How Santa Clara Shower Doors Works
Santa Clara Shower Doors measures, supplies and installs glass shower doors, tub doors and shower enclosures in Santa Clara and the surrounding Silicon Valley cities. Frameless glass is our main focus, and we also install semi-frameless and sliding doors, and we repair or replace doors that leak, sag or no longer close.
Every job starts with a visit to the bathroom. Walls in older homes are rarely perfectly plumb, curbs slope, and tile thickness varies, so we measure each opening at several points with the tile finished. Custom glass is cut and tempered to those numbers, and tempered glass cannot be trimmed afterward, which is why measuring is the step we spend the most time on.
We also look at the water. Much of Santa Clara's tap water comes from city wells, and the city's water quality report lists that well water at 220 to 300 mg/L of hardness, which is in the very hard range. Hard water leaves white spots on glass, so we talk through protective coatings, a squeegee routine and hardware finishes before you choose a door.
After the visit you get a written quote that lists the glass type and thickness, the hardware, the finish, any removal of an old door and the price. Glass is ordered only after you approve it, and any change in scope is agreed with you in writing first.
How we work
- Final measurements are taken on finished tile, not on bare walls.
- All shower and tub glass is tempered safety glass, which meets the safety glazing rules in federal law (16 CFR 1201) and the California Residential Code.
- Old doors, tracks and caulk are removed and the surfaces cleaned before new glass goes in.
- Hinges and clamps are anchored into solid backing, not just tile.
- Silicone is left to cure before the shower is used, and we tell you how long.
- Payment only for work you approved in writing.
